Harold Washington Memorial Playlot

Mayor Harold Washington attended the park’s ribbon-cutting when the park was then named in his honor as the Harold Washington Tot Lot.  Many area residents still have fond memories of shaking the late Mayor’s hand at the dedication ceremonies.

In 2005 a community playground build took place replacing the old worn wooden playground equipment and woodchip grounding with metal equipment and soft surface ground below.  The playlot was officially renamed the Harold Washington Memorial Playlot in 2006.

The playlot is a great place for families to bring younger children as the playground was designed for younger youth.  The small space of the playlot also allows parents and guardians to keep a closer eye on their children while allowing them to enjoy playing outdoors.

The hours of the playground are from dawn till dusk or from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM daily.
